An association between essential hypertension and defective insulin secretion has been identified. To study the fasting insulin levels in non-obese, non-diabetic Hypertensive subjects. Although hyperinsulinemia, a surrogate of insulin resistance, may play a role in the pathogenesis of hypertension (HTN), the association between fasting insulin level and HTN development is still controversial.
