BACKGROUND
The dynamic compression screw and plate is a gold standard device in the management of intertrochanteric fracture fixation. The problems of bedsores, DVT, lung complications, joint stiffness and malunion are very common with conservative management of IT fractures. Various modalities of devices are available for fracture fixation. The objective of the study is to analyse the treatment outcome of IT fractures by DHS.1
MATERIALS AND METHODS
This is a prospective study. 20 patients with fracture IT were treated with DHS. The average age of the patient was 52.25 years (range 41-60 years) with mean follow-up of 2.1 years (range 1.5-2.0 years). The patients were assessed for fracture union, function and complications at regular follow-up interval.
RESULTS
The average age of the patient was 52.25 years (range 41-60 years) with mean follow-up of 2.1 years (range 1.5-2.0 years). The patients were assessed for fracture union, function and complications at regular follow-up interval.
CONCLUSION
From this study, we conclude that dynamic hip screw is a reliable, versatile and effective device for the treatment of intertrochanteric fractures.
