PROFILE OF MULTIPAROUS WOMEN UNDERGOING PRIMARY CAESAREAN SECTION

Caesarean section is one of the most common surgeries performed in modern obstetrics. It is defined as the birth of a foetus via laparotomy and through hysterotomy. Caesarean section done for the first time in a woman is called Primary caesarean section, while caesarean on a uterus having one or more prior hysterotomy incisions is called secondary. Primary caesarean section in multiparous woman refers to caesarean section done for the first time in a lady who had one or more previous vaginal deliveries. The common indications for this procedure are foetal distress, malpresentation and antepartum haemorrhage. We wanted to find the prevalence of primary caesarean section in multiparous women and analyse the indications for primary caesarean section in them.
